Summer Maintenance and Renovations Assistant Contract

About the Role:
Reporting to the Property Manager, the Maintenance and Renovations Assistant will support the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities and residential group homes. This is a hand-on role ideal for a person interested in skilled trades, construction or property maintenance who wants practical, real-world experience.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant and is open to one (1) summer contract.
- Start Date: June 2, 2026
- End Date: August 21, 2026
- Duration: 12 weeks (full-time, summer contract)
What You Will be Doing:
- Assist with general maintenance and repairs across facilities and residential group homes
- Support projects such as:
- Painting and staining
- Mulching and general clean-up and upkeep
- Deck and drywall repairs
- Minor plumbing
- Flooring installation, finishing trim work and repair
- Assist with special maintenance or construction projects as needed
- Use provided basic hand tools safely and responsibly
- Drive a company vehicle when required (if applicable)
Who Can Apply?
To meet Canada Summer Jobs Grant eligibility requirements, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been granted/conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations
- Not able to have more than one Canada Summer Jobs position at one time
What We are Looking For:
- Interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Carpentry
- Renovation or Construction Trades or Pre-Apprenticeship programs
- Landscaping, Mechanical or Maintenance work
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Able to work independently and follow instructions
- Strong attention to safety
- CSA-approved safety footwear
- Satisfactory Police Clearance (required for candidates 18 years and older)
- Valid G2 or G Driver’s License with $1 Million Personal Vehicle Liability Insurance (an asset)
- Driver’s Abstract (if applicable)
- First Aid and CPR (an asset)
Salary: $18.60 per hour, 35 hours per week, 12 weeks total
