Summer Maintenance and Renovations Assistant Contract

About the Role:

Reporting to the Property Manager, the Maintenance and Renovations Assistant will support the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities and residential group homes. This is a hand-on role ideal for a person interested in skilled trades, construction or property maintenance who wants practical, real-world experience.

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant and is open to one (1) summer contract.

  • Start Date: June 2, 2026
  • End Date: August 21, 2026
  • Duration: 12 weeks (full-time, summer contract)

What You Will be Doing:

  • Assist with general maintenance and repairs across facilities and residential group homes
  • Support projects such as:
    • Painting and staining
    • Mulching and general clean-up and upkeep
    • Deck and drywall repairs
    • Minor plumbing
    • Flooring installation, finishing trim work and repair
  • Assist with special maintenance or construction projects as needed
  • Use provided basic hand tools safely and responsibly
  • Drive a company vehicle when required (if applicable)

Who Can Apply?

To meet Canada Summer Jobs Grant eligibility requirements, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been granted/conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations
  • Not able to have more than one Canada Summer Jobs position at one time

What We are Looking For:

  • Interest in one or more of the following areas:
    • Carpentry
    • Renovation or Construction Trades or Pre-Apprenticeship programs
    • Landscaping, Mechanical or Maintenance work
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
  • Able to work independently and follow instructions
  • Strong attention to safety
  • CSA-approved safety footwear
  • Satisfactory Police Clearance (required for candidates 18 years and older)
  • Valid G2 or G Driver’s License with $1 Million Personal Vehicle Liability Insurance (an asset)
  • Driver’s Abstract (if applicable)
  • First Aid and CPR (an asset)

Salary: $18.60 per hour, 35 hours per week, 12 weeks total
