Summer Human Resources Assistant Contract

About the Role:
Reporting to the Human Resources Supervisor, the Human Resources Summer Assistant will help with a variety of HR-related tasks, including administrative work, recruitment support, health and safety initiatives, and training development. You will work closely with the HR team and gain practical experience you can take with you in your career.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant and is open to one (1) summer contract.
- Start Date: June 2, 2026
- End Date: August 21, 2026
- Duration: 12 weeks (full-time, summer contract)
What You will be Doing:
- Helping with administrative tasks such as preparing documents, filing, data entry, and answering phones
- Updating and organizing employee and HR records
- Supporting human resources projects and initiatives
- Assisting with the creation and updating of staff orientation and training materials
- Supporting the recruitment process by:
- Pre-screening applications
- Helping schedule interviews
- Assisting with reference checks and paperwork
- Creating and updating spreadsheets and tracking tools
- Researching HR policies and helping with updates or improvements
- Supporting day-to-day activities of the Human Resources Department
- Helping to promote a safe and healthy workplace
Who Can Apply?
To meet Canada Summer Jobs Grant eligibility requirements, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been granted/conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations
- Not able to have more than one Canada Summer Jobs position at one time
- Have an interest in supporting adults who have intellectual disabilities
- Have an interest in Human Resources Management in a not-for-profit setting
What We are Looking For:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated for a post-secondary program in:
- Human resources Management
- Business Administration
- Health and Safety (an asset, not required)
- Strong organization, communication and time-management skills
- Respect for confidentiality and professionalism
- Satisfactory Police Clearance (required for applicants 18 years and older)
Salary: $18.60 per hour, 35 hours per week, 12 weeks total
