Niagara Family Network Update and Presentation May 7th, 2015

The Niagara Family Network had a very successful presentation by disability lawyer Brendon Pooran in December 2014. Brendon spoke about legal rights and guardianship issues. There were 60 people in attendance!
Now, we are inviting you to attend a presentation by Graeme Treeby on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at 79 Welland Avenue in St. Catharines. The presentation is "Bubble Wrap" your Son's or Daughter's Future with:

- The Use of Life Insurance, Wills, Pensions, Life Plans, & Other Tools
- The Provision of a "Helping Hand" to your Trustees After You Are Gone
Graeme is a father of a child with cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and PDD. Twenty years ago, he founded the Special Needs Planning Group whose efforts are concentrated on sharing information with families in Ontario regarding the funding of Henson Trusts, Registered Disability Savings Plan and acquiring Government benefits.
Graeme has served as a Board member with Community Living York South. He also spent 14 years as a disability/financial consultant with the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy.
Graeme has written a book entitled Removing the Mystery -An Estate Planning Guide for Families of People with Disabilities and produced the Henson Trust Trustee Manual both of which are available through the Ontario Federation of Cerebral Palsy at www.ofcp.ca either in CD or paper format.

I would also like to share with you that one of our members, Steffanie Bjorgan who founded Red Roof Retreat along with her husband Moe 14 years ago, was selected as Niagara-on-the-Lake's Citizen of the Year in January 2015. Red Roof Retreat started with offering summer camp programs. Since then, Red Roof Retreat has evolved to offer respite and adult day programs. In addition to the 11 acre hobby farm in NOTL, there is now a community program operating at Ina Grafton Gage Home on Linwell Rd. in St. Catharines.
